What to do with your pets when you go on vacation
With a Pet Sitter:
~Prepare your pet by spending a lot of time with it before you leave.
~Make sure your pets have met the pet sitter beforehand. If you leave your pet for a long period of time with a complete and total stranger they have never seen before, your pet might act in a very negative way.
~Take your pet's feeding schedule into consideration. Having a pet sitter feed your pet at completely different times can upset your pet even more.
~Write detailed instructions on everything for your pet sitter so they know how everything works with your pets system.
NOTE: Younger pets may not be able to handle going alone for so long, so a boarding house where they have constant/consistent care and attention may be a better option.
Boarding:
Boarding your pet at the nearest/local boarding house may be a very good idea, but remember to:
~Take enough of your pets food with them to the boarding house so they do not have to adjust to new, strange food that could possibly upset them even more than they already are.
~Write detailed instructions on how to take care of your pet.
~Take whatever medications (if applicable) that your pet needs to the boarding shelter with them.
