Storms and Evacuations

Updated: Dec 11, 2018

~Storms and Evacuations:

-In cases of major storms, hurricanes, and evacuations, there is a great tip that can help you keep your pets in your possession (others know they belong to you in case you are separated. Shelters will take off all tags). In permanent marker, write your phone number and name on your pet's belly. This way, if the tags are removed/lost/fallen off in times of emergency, you will still have a connection to your pet if you are in different locations.

-Always have backup pet medications and your pets food. If your pet has special medications that they need, this can save your pets life if you have spare medications.

-Keep pet carriers close by so in case of emergency evacuation, you can safely transport your pet via carrier.

What is the Gold Award?

The Gold Award is the highest award a Girl Scout can achieve, and is a very big deal in the line of Girl Scouts. Only 5% of Girl Scouts actually accomplish their gold award. There is a lot of work, hours, and thought that goes into each Gold Award, so each project is very, very different.
